Sustainable Development & FttH

Currently twittering at www.twitter.com/fibreguy

Interesting tool developed by the FttH Council that provides members with the means to develop hard-edged what-if analyses for alternative FttH dployments.

Bill St Arnaud calls this G-Commerce, where G is for Green.

Focus on The Climate Change Imperative - we need to take dramatic measures to address CO2 issue.

26 Tons of CO2 per person per year in 2008 must drop to 2 Tons by 2050 - this is not going to be delivered by incremental changes - ICT tools are the only technology we know of that can credibly deliver the change we need;

Carbon Economy is $500Billion market by 2050 - $57Trillion

Carbon Economy has potential to pay for several bank bailouts an 3 or 4 Iraq like wars - ie the scale is vast!

Carbon Economy is able to fund ubiquitous FttH, fund healthcare and stablise the Earth’s atmospheric balance, on a transparent economic basis.

Interesting ideas from Bill St Arnaud.

More later :)
