Latest Ofcom Telecommunications Market Data

Ofcom published its Telecommunicaitons Market Update for Q1 2008 today highlighting the emerging trends within the sector.

Its positive to note that the number of residential and SME broadband connetctions rose by 600,000 in the first quarter of 2008 taking the total number of connection to 16.2m.

The number of fixed line calls remained unchanged, with an overall reduction in direct operator volume minutes offset by indirect operators. A fall in revenue from calls in the last quarter saw mobile revenue fall overall for the UK's mobile operators. Unsuprisingly, messaging increased by around 8% while call volume decreased.
