''Convergence Conversation Event, 04 June 2009''

‘Advertising and the impact of convergence’

In the current sea of uncertainty the ability to understand consumer consumption patterns is vital. As the disruptive effects of convergence place new unfounded strains on media revenue, tried and tested business models face stiff competition from new and innovative platforms. This Convergence Conversation examined the role of advertising in the light of convergence. With senior speakers from ITV, Deloitte, CurrentTV and the IAB on board, and hosted by Deloitte, it was an excellent evening .

Date:         Thursday 04 June 2009
Venue:
Deloitte Offices, EC4A 3BZ
Time:        18:30 - 20:30

Cheese & Wine will be provided

Understanding consumer appetite for traditional or emerging media devices and platforms has never been more important. Taking the recent publication of Deloitte’s Media Democracy survey as stimulus, the conversation endeavoured to discover just how far convergence has impacted advertising, and whether or not new platforms yet hold more sway amongst consumers than traditional.

Questions that needed answers included:

  • Is TV still the fundamental media source for consumers?
  • How has convergence impacted advertising revenue streams?
  • Who is winning in the battle between traditional and new media platforms?
  • How affective is online advertising?
  • How do age groups differ in consumption and purchase?
