'How much bandwidth do we need?'
In the race for ever higher broadband speeds, and infinite bandwidth, the investment available seems to be the only limitation. But how much bandwidth do we actually need?
Approximations of bandwidth required for multi-room streaming high definition TV along with immersive & networked gaming might seem large, but is it really? And what configuration of technological options best addresses our foreseeable needs?
Or is it the case that when we put more bandwidth into households and into the hands of consumers and businesses, more creative and useful ways of using that bandwidth will follow naturally? Can bandwidth be a trigger for innovation?
How much bandwidth do we need? At the Convergence Conversation on the 29th of July the issue was debated and perspectives added.
The group joined us here at Intellect after work - to listen, learn, contribute and network. The Convergence Conversation format was as always deliberately informal, with a chance for everyone to put forward their views in an open discussion and network over a glass of wine.
