An auditorium full of industry folk in a prime terrorist target location, exchanging thoughts on the role of broadcasting in today's day and age was an interesting start to a Thursday evening. Once we finally got past the hang up of having to define and categorise a broadcaster, more insightful perspectives were shared pertaining to the blurring boundaries of the TV distribution market i.e. evolving and fragmented value chain, increasing user influence, patchy regulation - an experience economy, if you like - as one member suggested. Kudos to the moderator who scored 10 points in keeping the discussion alive and showmanship!

One aspect that did not manage to surface during the course of the debate was the vast disparities in provisioning and consumption of television content across geographic boundaries. More...
